Theses dogs differ from other dogs in that they are trained to assist the police and other law-enforcement personnel in their work. K9 Dogs search for explosives and drugs. It was from this point onwards that dogs were trained to perform the task. The K9 solution had been discovered but it was in Continental Europe that dogs were first used on a large scale.
