De Koninklijke Nederlandse Politiehonden Vereniging (KNPV)
The Koninklijke Nederlandse Politiehonden Vereniging (KNPV) originated in The Netherlands, Holland, in the early 1900s. The original aim of this association was to provide a program that would lead to the official police dog certificate from the Dutch government. This was meant to help citizens who wanted to train dogs and then sell them to the Dutch police to be used for the real police work. Today the KNPV knows a number of different certificates:
- PH I (Politiehond I) - Police dog I
- PH 2 (Politiehond 2) - Police dog II
- Obj. Bew. (Object Bewakingshond) - Object protection dog
- Basis Zoekhonden - Basic search dog
- Zoekhonden (Zoekhond, Sorteerhond & Reddingshond) - Search dog, detection dog, rescue dog
